How are you doing it?

I've been asked this a lot lately. It feels great! I just wanted to quickly share what I have been doing to loose weight.

One of the simplest possible ways that you can look at weight loss is on a calories in and calories out basis. What this means is that you need to burn as many calories as you are consuming in order to maintain your weight, or burn more than you are consuming in order to lose weight. A pound of body weight is said to consist of 3,500 calories. For every 3,500 calories that you burn rather than consuming, you will lose 1 lb of body weight. It really is this simple when you look at it, but that does not mean that practicing this way of thinking is easy.
-I am eating 1200 calories a day (I used to consume 3000+ calories a day and I use My Fitness Pal to count)

-I am exercising 3-5 days a week, walking up to 5 miles and burning up to 800 calories.

-I am drinking 145 ounces of water a day that is eight and a half 16.9 ounce water bottles a day (the norm is 64 ounces a day or 8 eight ounce glasses a day.)

-I am weighing in weekly, every Sunday morning.

The first week was painful. I was in pain. My stomach hurt constantly no matter what I ate. I was sore from exercising. And I expected results faster than I was seeing them. I was peeing constantly from all of this water...so annoying.

MY ADVICE get through the fourth day of EXACTNESS no cheating and you are on your way. I am into my 7th week I think? I have lost 28 pounds averaging 3 or 4 pounds a week. That's insane!!! I just can't believe the scale every time I jump on.

I'm not saying I haven't slipped, but I am saying I have stayed on track with calories. If I eat a cookie or two from the kids plate I count it. It only takes away from my next meal.

And finally, PEE is awesome. I am excited to pee now. How do you guys think our bodies get rid of the FAT??? We pee it out guys!!! I know we burn fat as well, but our bodies are amazing how they are willing to bounce back the minute we decide to make the necessary changes. DRINK DRINK DRINK! PEE out that fat!

Thanks for the encouraging post.. I've been going to the gym almost everyday with my boyfriend (who is fit as a model) and I feel like I haven't seen any changes at all.

OHMYGOSH! I can't believe how much water you are drinking. I can only imagine the pain you must have been in during the first few weeks! I drink about 75 ounces a day and I hurt so bad as my body adjusted to that. Good for you! I feel inspired to up my water consumption... don't think I'll make it to 145 ounces, but maybe I could at least do 100 ounces.

Isn't it crazy to realize how much Americans, in general, consume each day? DISGUSTING. It was truly a shock for me to realize I needed to eat about 1/2-1/3 of what I was eating in order to lose weight.

We pee out the fat--yessss! We also exhale it. I like to think of that during my workouts and REALLY "puff" the air out and think to myself, "Bye bye, fatty-fat heads!!" (Mature, I know.)

Love, love, loved this post! Everything you've said is something I've said to myself- even the pee! So true!
